From its humble beginnings at the Bangalow Market in the Norther Rivers, NSW, Brookfarm now employs over 65 staff throughout its thriving business at its state-of-the-art Byron Bay Bakehouse and at its macadamia farm in the Byron hinterland. Sold nationally through independent supermarkets and quality grocers, it has a growing footprint in the food services industry, and sells into over 15 markets internationally.

The Ewingsdale Bakehouse Site Supervisor is a key role at Brookfarm as you will not only be providing support to the Bakehouse team during our busy production cycle but also providing direction for the culture of the team as a whole to ensure cooperation and efficiency throughout the production process.

In your role you will be a member of the Operations team reporting to the Operations Manager.

What you need to do:

  • The Bakehouse and surrounds need to run smoothly, be clean, organised, and be safe, How you achieve this is to be handled under your own discretion with the assistance of your 2IC and with input of all other members of the team.
  • You will need to be proactive in leading the team’s culture, quality systems, production schedules and cleaning requirements.
  • The purpose of the role is to provide training and support for the team during each shift, to ensure the production capacity is maintained and also to keep the production plans and paperwork up to date.
  • You will be required to manage rosters and staff on a daily basis.
  • Comply with food safety requirements through our food safety program, cleanliness, stock rotation (FIFO).
  • Provide effective communication throughout the business.
  • Comply with all legal safety requirements, make it a safe place to work for all.
  • Ensuring customer satisfaction and proper branch operation.
  • Communicate both formally and informally with the Operations Manager and Planning Manager on a regular basis.
  • Implement strategies for your site and the business.
  • Stocktaking when applicable.
  • Participate in trials of new techniques and systems of work to improve work practices and productivity.

Skills Required:

  • At least 3 years supervisory experience, leading a small team within manufacturing.
  • Computer literacy – word, Excel and Google Drive + manufacturing operating systems knowledge an advantage.
  • A leader by example with good interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic.
  • Proactive problem solving and staff management skills.
  • Machinery operation experience.
  • The ability to identify opportunities for process development.
  • Demonstrated experience in competitive systems and manufacturing (or Lean Process).
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced environment with a can-do attitude.
  • Continuous improvement – investigate and proactively manage opportunities for improved productivity, safety, cost, quality, and waste reduction.

Brookfarm is looking to appoint a Material and logistics planning officer, to support the continued growth of its business in domestic and export markets.

As the Material and logistics planning officer, you are responsible for material demand planning, ordering and supply of materials; with a primary focus on raw materials required for manufacturing. This role will ensure adequate availability of quality materials at a cost-effective price and coordinate movement of materials by providing efficient and effective inventory control and logistics plans for the business. You will be a member of the Procurement and Planning team reporting to the Procurement and Planning Manager.

What you’ll be doing

The role will include:

  • Forecast required stock items, quantities and delivery timeframes based on historical movements and projected sales
  • Create and manage purchase orders in ERP system (Pronto)
  • Reconcile outstanding and completed orders ensuring correct pricing and quantities
  • Analysis of stock holding levels to ensure accurate stock levels
  • Periodic stocktaking
  • Working with suppliers and freight companies to ensure timely delivery of all products
  • Develop contingency plans and risk mitigations to support unexpected sales increase/decreases to optimise stock
  • Implement supply chain improvement initiatives, ensuring the improvement of forecast accuracy and inventory levels.
  • Maintaining positive supplier relations, evaluating supply options, approving purchases
  • Maintain a high level of communication between both internal and external stakeholders including sales, warehousing, customers, suppliers and freight forwarders

What you’ll need to bring to Brookfarm

  • Demonstrated experience in similar role (inventory management and Supply Chain planning in ERP/MRP systems) or a super organised person looking at a career change, with applicable transferable skills.
  • Full computer literacy – word, Excel and Google Drive + manufacturing operating systems knowledge an advantage
  • An understanding of supply chain fundamentals
  • Proactive problem solving, troubleshooting and contingency planning
  • Ability to develop and manage demand and supply plans

Your role as Brookfarm’s Business Development Manager is to drive profitable and sustainable business growth through the identification of new business opportunities, analysing current business practices and performance to recommend improvements and the building of market intelligence.

Sales experience and a passion for analysing numbers in spreadsheets essential.

Core Functions:

  • Implement the agreed sales strategy and review and update the strategy with the Head of Sales to achieve sales goals and revenues.
  • Identify new business opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain regular sales reports to share internally and with key customers.
  • Use sales data to analyse performance of SKU’s, customers, distributors and regions and recommend areas of improvements.
  • Assist with the development of sales presentations and proposals.
  • Analyse margins and sales to ensure effective selling and sustainable growth.
  • Attend tradeshows and appropriate travel to key customers.
  • Ensure effective development and implementation of sales policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with Marketing, Production, Finance and Warehousing teams to deliver exceptional service to our customers.
  • Assist in the development of the annual sales plan, specifically advising on: forecasts for each product and account and the creation of sales promotional plans.
  • Project Management – assist in the driving of internal projects to completion.
  • Competitor, category and market analysis.

We are looking for a motivated machinery operator to join our dynamic, friendly team in our Byron Bay Bakehouse.

Brookfarm is a food manufacturer with a difference – for us it starts on the family farm; our passion is to produce the highest quality real food and to make a difference to our community and the environment.

The successful candidate will help in all aspects of creating our delicious products and specifically operate our state-of-the-art packing machinery. This key part of our process requires a person to be an excellent problem solver with an eye for efficiency and a calm head under pressure.

As a Bakehouse team member, you are responsible for providing support to the Bakehouse teams, helping to perform all positions within the multiple sites of Brookfarm (Packing, Blending and Cleaning etc..)
The bakehouse team member is a key role at Brookfarm as you will be providing support not only to the Bakehouse Supervisor but to the team as a whole. You will also be tasked with helping to ensure the cleaning and shutdown of the facility is well maintained and efficiently functioning to maintain our high level of FSSC certification, this is vitally important.
In your role you will be a member of the Operations team, supporting the Bakehouse team, Supervisor and reporting to the Operations Manager.

SHIFT – 5am to 6pm (subject to change)

Important concepts

  • The Bakehouse and surrounds need to run smoothly, be clean, organised, and be safe
    • To achieve this, you will need to assist your Supervisor and other members of the team by following procedures and instructions for daily operation of the facility
  • Comply with food safety requirements through cleanliness and a thorough eye for detail throughout the daily operations
  • Comply with all legal safety requirements to make it a safe place to work for all

Desirable Qualifications / Skills

  • Machinery operation and computer skills are an advantage
  • Good communication and flexible attitude
  • Good understanding of safety in the workplace

Duties include (but not limited to)

  • Packing of goods, clean down of facility and equipment
  • Providing support to the Bakehouse Supervisor and Leadership Team
  • Responsible for helping to maintain the bakehouse in a food safe standard (FSSC)
  • Comply with all legal safety requirements, ensuring a safe place to work for all
