This easy ginger whole grain porridge recipe is the perfect bowl of comfort, combining the richness of chicken stock with the kick of ginger and Chinese five spice. Topped with soft-boiled eggs and spring onions, it’s a simple, wholesome dish with a ton of flavour.
Ingredients
1 cup whole grain porridge
1 x 2 cm piece ginger, minced
2¼ cups of chicken stock
A pinch of Chinese five spice
A few drops sesame oil
2 soft-boiled eggs
2 thinly sliced spring onions
Chilli oil, to serve
Soy sauce, to serve (optional)
Pinch salt
Method
- Place the whole grain porridge, ginger, five spice, stock and sesame oil into a pot and cook for 5 to 6 minutes stirring regularly until thick and glossy but still soupy.
- Garnish with boiled eggs, spring onions, chilli oil and soy if using.
