These amazing photos are from one of our cranberry suppliers, taken in the cranberry capital of Canada - Quebec. It's a lot of work to get these berries ready, as harvesting cranberries is still quite manual.
Cranberry harvesting happens every year around September and October, when all the berries have turned bright red.
Once the cranberries are ripe, the bogs are flooded with water, and the vines are shaken using a thresher. The cranberries are loosened and float to the surface, as the centre of the berry is hollow.
The cranberries are gathered up using booms, which are then lifted by conveyor or pumped into a truck to take them to the receiving station for cleaning and processing.
Cranberries are first frozen. Freezing allows the red colour to penetrate the centre of the berry, that is white when harvested.
When out of freezing, berries are juiced, before being sweetened and dried.

- Cranberries are indigenous and historically significant to North America
- Vines can live a very long time; some cranberry vines in Massachusetts are over 150 years old
- 2kgs of fresh cranberries required for 1kg of dried sliced cranberries
- Cranberries are a rich source of nutrition, they contain high levels of antioxidants, phytonutrients and polyphenol. They are full of vitamins and minerals like C, E, K and B.
- In their dried state they are succulent with a slight tartness. When used as an ingredient they add sweetness, with nutrition.
- Our dried cranberries are prepared with non-GMO ingredients and no preservatives, flavour or colours are added
